Vita | Franziska Peter

Franziska Peter (*1980 in Wriezen) grew up in Bernau near Berlin.

She first studied History of Art and English Studies at Humboldt University in Berlin and then completed her Studies of Painting/Graphics at Burg Giebichenstein University of Art and Design Halle. She has lived and worked in Berlin since graduating with a diploma in Fine Arts in 2008. She also holds a Master of Education in Fine Arts from the Berlin University of the Arts.

Statement

My work stems from a personal impulse and the desire to explore the unseen: the layers of experience that can only be hinted at. During the creative process, I seek to connect with hidden levels of memory, emotion and perception. I am drawn to the moment when form emerges and begins to dissolve simultaneously, a moment shaped by transition, change and the ongoing transformation inherent in all living things.

These impulses give rise to paintings, drawings, objects, and hybrid forms that oscillate between the personal and the universal. They combine intuition and perception, past and present, inner experience and outer form. Central themes are identity, memory, and the mystery of our existence. It is about capturing fleeting moments and states that condense into color, form, and material. Each work remains an approximation, an attempt to hold the fragile and changeable in the moment it becomes visible.
